Every times your phone comes on it will show a message similar to that in the picture below.
Note: When you first install the app you can specify how much you are prepared to offer;
the phone numbers to call; and your email address. You can later edit those details at anytime. |

Our full Terms and Conditions are available when you go to install the app, and these T & C's include our Privacy Policy. However, we consider it important to also state these on our website. Your Privacy Our website and our app do not use cookies; nor do they in any way collect or store any information about you that we may use or may share with a third party. Put simply, we do not collect; store; or share any kind of information. Period. The information that you enter when you install the app is stored only on your phone/device and we have no access to it. The phone numbers you will enter are used only by the app to display to the person who has your device what numbers he/she will need to call; while your name and email address are used only when necessary to either send you an email with a picture of the person who turned on your device without logging in, or to send you a password reminder. Your details are not used in any other way. In short, you have 100% privacy. Permissions Required Depending on your phone's settings, receiving a notification could cause it to turn itself on. This could then bring up your Offer Message. So, in order to avoid unnecessarily taking a picture and then emailing it to you, the app needs to know whether the display was turned on by a notification or by an actual person. Similarly, receiving a call will also turn on your phone. The app therefore needs to monitor the state of the phone in order to know when a call is being received. The READ_PHONE_STATE permission is used only for this purpose. In addition to the two permissions explained above, the app needs permission to use your camera and to store in your phone memory any picture that it might take. Such pictures will be replaced by any new ones. |

Find My Device vs PPP Find Device Find My Device and other similar apps, offer the facilities to wipe your data and lock your phone if it should get lost or stolen. While these facilities are extremely valuable under such circumstances, the additional offer to find your device really serves no useful purpose in such a scenario. Let's consider the following. Comparitech, which is a pro-consumer website, offers some useful advice on what to do if your phone is stolen. It writes: Most of us have experienced that sinking feeling when we cannot find our phone anywhere and realize we have lost it. Or worse still - that someone has stolen it. . . Unfortunately, the chances of actually getting a stolen phone back are slim. Also, if you consider this site: https://www.cashify.in/8-things-to-do-immediately-when-you-have-lost-your-phone, you will see that, after offering eight pieces of advice regarding what you should do immediately after losing your phone - including contacting the police and your service provider - this website which sells mobile phones concludes: Though the chance of getting your phone back is nearly zero, you can at least show the [police] reference number to demand your insurance. There are two principal factors that make the idea of recovering your phone by tracking it a non-starter. First, there is the question of the accuracy/reliability of tracking. See below a question that appears on Android Help, and then take a look at the Related content.
Apart from the issue of the unreliability of the phone tracking process, there is a second issue that is even more problematic. Imagine for a moment that you manage to successfully track your phone to within a radius of seven meters (which is about the best you will be able to do under ideal conditions). What are you going to do when you get there? Are you going to approach everyone within range to ask that you be allowed to search them? Assuming that the tracking is accurate and there is only one individual in range - given that he or she might be a thief - would it be wise for you to approach that person? If 18-year-old Jeremy Cook were alive today he would almost certainly tell you that that could be the last mistake you will ever make.
Phone Protector Plus (PPPlus) will serve as a lasting remembrance to young Jeremy Cook. PPPlus In order to recover your missing device, PPPlus aka PPP does not require you to go on a wild goose chase that potentially puts you in mortal danger. Instead, it presents whoever might have your phone, a positive incentive to return your device with no hard feelings. Moreover, research data show that less than 30% of missing devices were actually stolen, and of the people who find anything, only about 40% are likely to put themselves through the trouble of trying to return the item to its owner. But given the simple instructions from PPP and the financial incentive on offer, it is difficult to imagine any finders choosing to be keepers. |
